March 12, 2024: why POOLaide?
One of the questions I've had this week, as we're relaunching the newsletter, is why POOLaide?
If you were here in 2020, POOLaide was our hyper viral series of free online webinars during the Pandemic. We had 1,500 poolies join us for over 20 free professional development sessions on topics ranging from staff training to water testing, risk management and accessibility. It was a truly great moment, with our industry coming together to help each other during an otherwise difficult time.
In 2021, I relaunched POOLaide with another series of free webinars. They didn't have nearly the same impact (approximately 30-50 people showed up). Even though I was really proud of the presenters who agreed to speak on a wide range of important topics, I also knew it was time to retire that project.
When I think back to the original intent of the POOLaide webinars - and the trademarked name - it was to aide poolies. However you interpret that, we can aide each other. My goal with this blog/newsletter hybrid is to aggregate ideas, news, notes and other things we should all be aware of to aide the swimming pool industry.
Whether you are an aquatic programmer at a large community pool, a solo residential service tech, a hotel pool operator, a lifeguard, swim coach or anyone in between, I hope you will join me to continue learning about what's new and happening in our pool industry.
Thanks so much for being here!
