Royal Life Saving Australia and Myrtha Pools Join Forces
Myrtha, the membrane swimming pool manufacturer, has a long history of partnering with significant industry organizations such as FINA (now World Aquatics) USA Swimming, Swimming Canada. Still, I was surprised to see a normally non-partisan drowning prevention organization such as the Royal Life Saving Australia sign a partnership with a for-profit manufacturer.

After several deadly drownings, Alaska Legislature votes to require harbor safety ladders
This legislation comes in response to "a study concluding that 20% of the state’s 342 drowning deaths from 2016 through 2021 were due to falls from a dock or boat." Purchased in bulk, the ladders are expected to cost $210 each. It's unclear why so few docks had them to begin with, or if there was resistance to voluntary compliance requiring this legislation. Cold water shock is a big factor in drowning fatalities in Alaska.

Happy "the pool counts as a bath" season to all who participate

I've just arrived home from a great week in Fredericton, New Brunswick for the Atlantic Recreation Facilities Conference (ARFC) conference. Make sure you're subscribed to our YouTube Channel to receive a notification when I post the recording for my session "Guarding Our Guards: Learning from Lifeguard Workplace Deaths in North America." It's a difficult topic, but I'm really happy with how the presentation turned out and I look forward to sharing it with you.

Thanks so much for being here.
