ICYMI: lifeguard fatalities presentation

I've been following a terrible trend in our industry over the last few years: a dramatic increase in lifeguard workplace fatalities at swimming pools in Canada & the USA.

I recently presented an hour-long session on this topic at the Atlantic Recreation & Facilities Conference (ARFC) in Fredericton, New Brunswick. I'm happy to share the full recording is now available on our YouTube channel because this is an important topic that needs much greater awareness in our industry!!

In public health in Canada, an 'outbreak' is defined as three confirmed cases connected back to one site. Although each lifeguard fatality is located at a different swimming pool in a different state or province, the fact that there have been so many workplace injuries and/or fatalities like this in just the last 5-6 years is very alarming. I was only able to cover a few case studies in this presentation. There are many others I hope to record for our YouTube Channel in the coming months.
